Getting your history degree can be a rewarding and enriching experience. However, what career options are available after graduation? The skills you learn during your degree are so varied, that the career choices are equally as varied. Some of the options are listed below.

Researcher - Many graduates go on to work in museums and historical organizations conducting research. The job involves analyzing evidence that has been gathered concerning a historical event. Educator - Graduates with their PhD can go on to work in academia at the collegiate level. However, they can also work at historic sites providing tours or being a docent, curator, guide or interpreter.

Corporate Historian - Many of the larger corporations and government agencies generally have their own historians. They work to preserve the history of the organization, which can then be used in their marketing materials. Generally, these positions are also the public affairs officers as well.
Foreign Service Agents - A history degree is a great segue into a foreign services career. These jobs are often in foreign embassies. They help the ambassador with particular customers, courtesies and culture related to the country they are working in.
While a majority of historians strive to become professors, there are many additional careers available outside of the classroom. Before enrolling in a college program, consider your ultimate career goal. This will ensure you pick the perfect program for your career aspirations.
